Abstract

Human security is very important in the study of migration which presents a relationship between the two concepts. Human security encompasses all aspects of freedom, including psychological, emotional, spiritual, economic, social and cultural well-being. This study examined the impact of migration on human security in Ondo State, Nigeria. The research adopted a survey design and employed a quantitative approach. The push pull theory was used to anchor the study. 387 participants filled questionnaire on the impact of migration on human security. The study revealed that internal patterns, external patterns, socio-political factors and economic factors were all responsible for the high rate of migration of Ondo youths. The study recommends that the creation of conditions that promote human security would reduce the high rate of migration currently affecting the State and country at large.
