Abstract

Inadequate storage systems posed significant threat to global food and nutrition security. This study was conducted to design an appropriate cool storage structure for fresh maize cob. The material selection and design were based on the Tropical region of Nigeria, where the temperature and humidity prevail throughout the year. The total internal volume of the cool room was 1566 m3 and it was designed to accommodate 100,000 sweet corn cobs.
