Abstract

This research examined the role of social networks in job search and career development. The objectives of the study were to examine how social networks enhance job search and improve career development. This study was necessary because organisations are now operating in a digital era where decision-making and activities are no longer done using their previous traditional methods. Hence, the need for organisations to adopt modern practices becomes important. To achieve these objectives, the study embarked on a review of relevant literature in order to understand the views of many scholars in this area. Several journal papers were examined and cited that supported the role of social networks in job search and career development. The findings showed that social networks play an important role in job search and career development. Thus, the study concluded that social networks are effective medium for job search and career development in modern times. Social networks have become indispensable tools for job seekers and professionals, shaping the way individuals navigate their career paths, connect with opportunities, and enhance their professional growth. The study urged organisations to make use of social networks in job search and career development based on several benefits discussed in this study.
