Abstract
This study examined the effect of employee wellness programmes on employee productivity among manufacturing firms in Kano State, Nigeria. The study was motivated by the growing concern over declining employee productivity, workplace stress, health-related challenges, and the need for organizations to enhance workforce performance through effective wellness initiatives. Specifically, the study investigated the effects of physical wellness, mental health support, and work-life balance on employee productivity. A quantitative research approach and cross-sectional survey research design were adopted for the study. The target population comprised employees of selected manufacturing firms in Kano State. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to respondents. The collected data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Multiple regression analysis was employed to test the hypotheses formulated for the study. The findings revealed that physical wellness has a significant and positive effect on employee productivity among manufacturing firms in Kano State. The study also found that mental health support significantly and positively influences employee productivity. Furthermore, the results indicated that work-life balance has a significant and positive effect on employee productivity. The findings demonstrate that employee wellness programmes contribute significantly to enhancing employee performance and organizational effectiveness. The study concludes that employee wellness programmes are important strategic tools for improving employee productivity in manufacturing firms. The study recommends that management of manufacturing firms should strengthen physical wellness initiatives through health promotion programmes and occupational safety measures, establish comprehensive mental health support systems, and implement policies that promote work-life balance.
