Abstract
The complex and often contentious relationship between China and the United States of America has been one of the defining features of global politics in the 21st century. Focusing specifically on socio-economic interdependence, the study provided a comparative analysis of the intricate dynamics that shaped the relationship between the two global powers in terms of trade tensions, competition for global influence, climate change and global security. By integrating the Realist Economic principles with qualitative and historical research methodologies, the paper offered insights into the multifaceted nature of Sino-U.S. interactions, shedding light on the economic, political and strategic dimensions at play. The paper, found out that the Sino-U.S. relations from 2017 to 2022 were characterized by deepening economic interdependence alongside geopolitical tensions, necessitating a nuanced approach balancing cooperation and competition across trade, investment, soft power and security domains. Hence, the paper recommends the need for both countries to prioritize dialogue, diplomacy and cooperation mechanisms while addressing economic and security concerns, in order to foster stable and mutually beneficial relations between China and the United States of America.
