Abstract

Budgeting is the apportionment of scarce resources to various sectors of the economy based on chosen parameters. This paper conducted a disaggregated analysis of 2024 budget proposal. Objective was to analyze the 2024 budget and conduct a comparative analysis of the present budget with the previous years. The paper was anchored on budgetary control theory. The paper adopted a qualitative analysis using descriptive statistics of frequency table, percentages and bar charts were employed for the data analysis comprised of the budgetary amounts/figures.  It was revealed that Nigerian budget for the past years have remained huge and exorbitant without commensurate development of fiscal infrastructure. The reviewed budget of hope failed to allocate much needed funds to education and agriculture. The paper recommended that there should be synergy between government and stakeholders in the process of budget implementations and government should institute effective monitoring of budget implementations.
